Every submission received must have the students name, school, grade, home address, and home phone number on the back (for artwork) or at the end of the page (for poems or prose).
The theme of all submissions is Expressions of Faith. Students are encouraged to interpret and communicate their faith through art and writing.

Poetry can be any length between 4 lines and 800 words. Prose (short stories) can vary in length from 300 to 2,500 words. Artwork can vary in size from 3x5 up to 8.5x 11.
A balanced selection of poems, artwork, and stories will be chosen to represent all age/grade levels. Submissions will be judged on content, originality, and creativity within the parameters of the Catholic theme.
Proceeds from the purchase of Expressions of Faith books, as well as sponsorships, will go toward one scholarship for an eighth grader from each school that participates in the contest. Scholarship recipients must have participated in the contest to be considered for the scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be selected locally by each participating school.
Submissions will be chosen by a team of judges from the community who are experts in the fields of publishing, art, and writing. No elementary school personnel will be part of the selection team; no parents or relatives of students participating in the contest will be part of the selection team. All members of the selection team will be practicing Catholics.
The publisher has the right to have final say regarding the contents of the book.
Submissions will not be returned.
This opportunity has been developed in conjunction with the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Phoenix in an effort to raise scholarship money for students, encourage participation in the arts, and allow children the opportunity to express their Catholic faith in a positive way.
Students will be notified if their submission has been chosen for publication. No purchase is required in order to be chosen for publication.
